Digital Badges
Digital badges are online credentials that recognize a student’s skills, achievements, or experiences. Each badge includes details about what was accomplished and can be shared on résumés, LinkedIn, or digital portfolios. They serve as a verified way to showcase learning beyond the classroom.

The partnership between the Scouts Explore program and Office of Community Engagement aims to provide college freshmen and sophomores with structured opportunities to discover multiple career paths based on academic fields. By aligning the Explore program's career exploration program with the Campus to Career Initiative, the goal is to cultivate a group of motivated, and informed students ready to excel in their chosen fields of study and future careers.
- Enhance Career Awareness: Introduce students to various career paths through structured activities like site visits, company rotations, seminars, and job shadowing.
- Cultivate Essential Skills: Equip students with essential skills through practical experiences and mentorship, by emphasizing concepts like professionalism, timeliness, teamwork, communication, and leadership
- Open to college freshmen and sophomores of any gender.
- Demonstrated interest in exploring diverse career paths.
- Commitment to learning and personal growth.
- Successful submission of application for Scouts Post
- Completion of career interest survey
- Shadow a job site, department, etc. at least three times in an academic year

The Jag Readiness Digital Badge, in partnership with Chick Fil A Early Talent Programs, seeks to provide professional development opportunities and services for University of South Alabama (91¶ÌÊÓÆµ) students. Through the development of interview skills, personal branding recommendations, networking opportunities, and crafting stand-out resumes, students engaged in this opportunity will gain information to aid in the demystification of hiring practices of large companies. Upon completion of program requirements, students will be invited to the Chick-Fil-A Support Center in Atlanta, Georgia to meet with company executives about their career trajectories and functions of various departments.
- Enhance Interview Preparedness: Empower students with the necessary skills and confidence to excel in virtual asynchronous interviews through a simulated setting, ensuring they can effectively communicate their qualifications and stand out in a competitive job market.
- Career Advancement Skills: Equip students with targeted strategies and knowledge to pursue and secure positions, focusing on crafting standout application materials and leveraging networking opportunities.
- Insight into Hiring Practices: Provide students with an insider’s perspective on hiring processes used by top employers, including the criteria and methodologies employed in selecting candidates, to better align their applications and interview approaches with industry expectations
- Sophomore, Junior and Senior Classification, open to all students who qualify (minimum 30 credit hours)
- 3.0 GPA and above
- Resume or engagement history
- 500 word essay
- Successful submission of application materials
- Attend in-person events with Chick Fil A team
- on campus

The Community Engagement Digital Badge recognizes students who demonstrate a genuine commitment to serving others and strengthening the University of South Alabama and surrounding community. Earning this badge shows that a student has dedicated time and effort to meaningful service projects, campus initiatives, and partnerships that help address community needs and create a positive impact.
- Encourage students to actively participate in service opportunities that benefit the campus and surrounding community.
- Develop students’ leadership, collaboration, and civic responsibility through hands-on engagement.
- Connect students with campus partners, local organizations, and peers to build a strong network of service-minded Jaguars.
- Open to all currently enrolled 91¶ÌÊÓÆµ students
- Submission and approval of at least 50 service hours on SouthServes during the academic year
- Submission of reflective activity and/or survey
